Allow to download WDQS and WCQS results as Excel spreadsheet
Open, LowPublic

Description

WDQS and WCQS allow you to download the result as CSV file. However MS Excel has a lot of issues with CSV files: it does not handle foreign characters right or is able to deal with long integers (like OTRS numbers). SQL quarry service has a nice "Excel XLSX" download option. Can we add one of those to WDQS and WCQS?

Yes by Microsoft, but those have been around for 20 years so I would not hold my breath. For example the issues described at https://www.winhelponline.com/blog/stop-excel-convert-text-to-number-date-format-csv-file/ or at https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/accented-characters-dont-appear-corectly-in-excel/19ee3ece-9449-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5. XLSX does not have those issues.

@Jarekt Thanks a lot for the links - which confirm what I feared. I suppose that similar issues are not known for LibreOffice. But that of cause does not help those who can not move away from Microsoft Excel.
