I’ve noticed two closely related bugs that occur when the app switches between iOS’s light and dark modes.

This is the first issue (light mode to dark mode):

  1. Make sure iOS is in light mode.
  2. Open the Wikipedia app to any Wikipedia article.
  3. In the iOS settings, turn on dark mode. (This also happens whenever iOS automatically switches to dark mode.)
  4. In any web browser, tap on a link for any Wikipedia article (must be different than the article opened in step 2) to open the Wikipedia app again. You will see that the primary article text is black instead of white, so you cannot see it against the black background.

The second (dark mode to light mode):

  1. Make sure iOS is in dark mode.
  2. Open the Wikipedia app to any Wikipedia article.
  3. In the iOS settings, turn on light mode. (This also happens whenever iOS automatically switches to light mode.)
  4. In any web browser, tap a link for any Wikipedia article (must be different than the article opened in step 2) to open the Wikipedia app again. You will see that the entire article appears in dark mode instead of light mode. The rest of the app outside of the article is in light mode.

In both cases, refreshing the article or closing out and relaunching the app solves the issue. I currently am using iOS 14.2 beta, but I have seen this issue on stable versions of iOS 14 and 13 as well. I’ve attached screenshots showing what each problem looks like. Version: WikipediaApp/6.7.1.1768 (iOS 14.2; Phone)
