Progress bar while uploading video to tool and then to commons

@satdeep_gill feedback in Indic-TecCom messenger group
I wasn't able to see the progress bar. But, when I clicked the Upload to Commons again, I saw the progress bar again for a few seconds, and then it disappeared again. And on and on.

  • Implement progress bar while uploading video from user's devices to VideoCutTool for editing.
  • Implement Progress bar in step-3, the resultant video for uploading to commons, Also add a success alert & Notification such that video is successfully uploaded to commons.

Hey @Khr2003! Can you take a look at this ticket? If we make this up then we should be all set for the launch of v0.5 too and announce the same to our community via mailing lists and in other places as well :)

Hi @Gopavasanth am happy to look at it. I am currently working on improving trim UI. Once I am done I can look into that. If it has more priority I can drop the trim UI and start looking into it.

After Drag and drop from user's devices to VideoCutTool for editing. The video is not actually getting uploaded (according to the code). So why are we adding a progress bar here?

If we implement a progress bar, how would we capture the metrics related to upload progress? Currently, we only have a circular loading indicator that spins until the upload is complete and then redirects to the homepage, right?

Correct, I don't think we have enough metrics and data (currently) to power a progress bar for both the stages listed above in task description. The current functionality of VideoCutTool doesn't support this, and as far as i know there's no web api / wiki commons api to track the progress of download and upload of videos.
We can close this ticket for now, as nothing can be done here from dev end.

@Aklapper can you please help me in deciding the correct ticket status here? Currently I'm marking this as declined.
