patch in FB peering into cr2-eqdfw
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

This task will track the patching in of our FB peering connection at EQDFW (Equinix site DA1).

Netbox Updates:

Provider (rob made) https://netbox.wikimedia.org/circuits/providers/facebook/
The circuit (rob made) https://netbox.wikimedia.org/circuits/circuits/98/
The cable (rob made) https://netbox.wikimedia.org/circuits/circuits/98/
The interface (Arzhel made): https://netbox.wikimedia.org/dcim/interfaces/2009/

Access to Equinix DA1

Equinix has increased restrictions due to Covid-19 and ALL onsite visits must be scheduled in advance, via their portal.

https://customerportal.equinix.com

Papaul: You have a user on that portal, but you'll need to use the reset login link to get your password reset if you don't have it accessible. Once that is done, you'll need to do the following:

  • Fill out your Security Profile (it should prompt you to do this, can also reach via top right select your Name > Profile > IBX Profile
  • Navigate to Orders & Tickets > Schedule On-Site Services > Work Visit.
  • Fill out the visit form with date and other info and submit.
  • They will then generate a QRcode you can scan from your phone to get access through the doors at DA1. You also will have to enroll with biometics once you are on-site, if you have not done at that facility. (The portal doesn't give me that info.)

On-site Checklist

  • - review the checklist before going to eqdfw. You need to bring fiber optic patch (plus suggested spare), label maker, and suggested optic meter (in case of a failure to link/see light).
  • - connect a single mode fiber from patch panel ports 7/8 to cr2-eqdfw:xe/0/1/2 - https://netbox.wikimedia.org/dcim/interfaces/2009/
  • - update the cable entry with the label # applied to it and change from planned to active. https://netbox.wikimedia.org/circuits/circuits/98/
  • - check for light/link on router. (show interfaces diagnostics optics xe-0/1/2). FB has confirmed they are sending light @ -1.63dBm so we should see it.
  • - once all on-site steps done, resolve this task & Rob will see its resolution on parent task for implementation.

Please note: If no light is seen, please roll fiber and also take readings from both ports. FB reports they are sending light.
