Description

This task is about identifying the Wikipedias we will work most closely with in designing and developing the New Discussion Tool.

Objectives

This section contains the objective of/reason for working with a subset of wikis as partners in the New Discussion Tool design and development processes.

Collaborate with a select number of wikis to increase the likelihood the New Discussion Tool:
- Causes Junior Contributors to be confident starting new conversations
- Encourages all contributors to start new topics in ways that comply with a page's specific conventions and customizations.

Selection criteria

For now, we are drafting these criteria in this Google Sheet (limited access for now): Talk pages project/Partner wiki selection.

Documenting outcomes from the conversation @Whatamidoing-WMF and I had yesterday:

The criteria we will use to identify the wikis we will seek to partner with on the development of the New Discussion Tool are as follows:
- Wikis that see welcoming and supporting newcomers as a priority
- Wikis invested in evolving talk pages

In addition to the above, we will ensure RTL and non-latin scripts are represented among the wikis we partner with.

DECIDED: as @Whatamidoing-WMF and I discussed, we will partner, to start, with the Arabic, Czech and Hungarian Wikipedias. With time, it is likely this list will be expanded.
