Vector: Arrow+backspace key + mouse problem in SimpleSearch

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #24654 +++

Browser: Iceweasel 3.5.8

Steps:

  1. Open http://en.wikipedia.org/
  2. In the searchbox, input "abc"
  3. A suggestion list is shown
  4. Use down-arrow key and move to an item
  5. Press Backspace key to clear all text in searchbox
  6. Repeat step 2&3
  7. Press down-arrow. I cannot move to suggestion items now

(Above steps were described in bug 24654)

  1. Use mouse cursor to point the first suggestion item. Do not click
  2. Move cursor away
  3. Press down-arrow. Nothing happens
  4. Press up-arrow. The highlight of the first item disappears
  5. Press up-arrow. The "containing..." item is highlighted
  6. Press up-arrow several times. The highlight moves up
  7. Press down-arrow. The highlight still moves up

I tried this again and cannot always reproduce. I guess appearing of the bug depends on some factors like processing states when I pressing a key.

I cannot reproduce the problem either with steps in comment 0 and Firefox 25.
