Earlier in 2020 – in a meeting between Analytics Engineering and Product Analytics – an idea was pitched to give analytics.wikimedia.org a makeover so it serves as a portal to all data at Wikimedia. Currently it links to some datasets (primarily downloadable dumps), but the idea is to make it THE destination for users of Wikimedia data (both external and internal users).

Eventually it'd be great to have the data governance & cataloging framework Apache Atlas be part of that, but for now we can limit it to a landing page that can take people to those dumps, to Superset dashboards, to Wikistats, to data dictionaries of datasets/datasources in Data Lake and Superset/Turnilo, etc. One idea was to have a wiki page that serves as the content backend for that landing page.

We may want to adopt the design of https://design.wikimedia.org/strategy/, in line with https://research.wikimedia.org/ & https://design.wikimedia.org/style-guide/

Product-Analytics will provide Analytics with the content
