Around 5pm UTC on 29th October there was a large spike in traffic across all wikis for startup error limited to the desktop. Due to the nature of the errors this is likely interfering with use of desktop. At time of writing 25,608 errors have been recorded since the inciting incident.
Does anyone know what could be causing this? Given the lack of deploys this week, no backports in the evening and sharp uptick, could this be a banner campaign?
(I'll look into this further tomorrow. It could just be a rather excitable bot a la a repeat of T264453 if nothing happened around that timestamp)
@Jdlrobson, our French fundraising banner campaign came down at 16 UTC on October 29, as planned. After that, there were no live WMF CentralNotice campaigns, anywhere.
I checked the CentralNotice logs and don't see anything relevant to that timeframe; WMDE was prepping an English mobile fundraising campaign around then, but didn't turn anything new on.
