Implement 'pinch-to-zoom' feature in all larger images in the Explore feed. It’s currently missing in:

  • In the news
  • On this day
  • Random article

A question for the future: is it obvious to people they can pinch to zoom? We had an affordance on the image recommendations photos to signify the ability to do this, but it isn't something we need to change now.

@JTannerWMF 'Pinch to zoom' an image is an established UX pattern in- and outside of our app at this point. We introduced it in the Android app more than a year ago and with this ticket, made sure that it’s available in the entire Explore feed. It’s a cost-benefit UX consideration: an onboarding element to explain an established interaction leads to taking away the user’s attention from important call to actions, such as editing. Long story short: I don’t think that there’s a need to introduce people to it.
