Two-factor authentication reset for CentralAuth account Titoxd
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

My 2FA authentication device and my old laptop with the TOTP backup codes for my account (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:CentralAuth/Titoxd) are no longer functioning. I am still logged in to enwiki, and have access to my existing Phabricator as well as the email account associated with both accounts.

Hi @Nahid, I have emailed Trust and Safety as you have requested.

Thanks,

Titoxd

2FA removed from User:Titoxd. Thanks.

I was able to log in successfully and re-enabled 2FA on my replacement authentication device, so this task can be closed now. Thanks!

@Nahid I assume you used the old/mwmaint1002 way to disable 2FA. I would like to ask you to use https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:DisableOATHForUser, which logs the 2FA removal to a non-public log. Ping @jrbs for awareness. Thanks!

@Urbanecm, You are correct. The reason I've used the old method is simply because the onwiki form requires account password and 2FA all over again but the alternative is faster.
