Special:MediaSearch - page load UI issues

Description

This task is a follow-up for T270181.

Or refresh Special:MediaSearch page with the search results displayed.

The following issues are present

  • The search icon and the clear button (the 'x' button) load after the grid images finished loading. Filed separately as T272417.
  • The filters are not visible, but the tabs are visible
  • When the search icon and the clear button become visible, the grid images start loading again.

The animated gif below captures the three issues above (it's recorded with slow network connection, but the issues are visible without throttling).

Note: I checked other pages (Special:Homepage, Special:Search, Special:RecentChanges, and Special:ContentTranslation - all of them display smoother loading (and re-loading).

I'm going to study the loading process in a little more detail and will attempt to profile things to get a better sense of what is contributing to the delay. Will share any discoveries I make here.
