Investigate whether link click actions on the page are captured now in any schema
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Goal

While AHT team is developing IP info feature, we'd like to collect baseline measurement. We want to understand

  1. Are clicks on tool links, like WHOIS, Geolocate, etc., captured in any schema now

image.png (160×2 px, 71 KB)

  1. If yes, calculate the number of clicks by each tool category , and the click through rate, i.e. clicks/pageviews

Conclusion

We don't have a general schema to capture the events of link clicks on pages.
Some projects, like Wikipedia_Citation_Usage , once enabled tracking clicks or hovers on certain links. But the schema has been obsoleted and tool links were not part of tracking targets.
Also there are schemas to track UI clicks on mobile and desktop. (schema: desktopwebuiactionstracking, mobilewebuiactionstracking) But clicks on external tool links are not part of their tracking targets as well.
