Consult with Senior Contributors about topic subscription requirements
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

This task is about consulting with Senior Contributors about the approach we are currently taking to enabling people to elect to receive notifications when new comments are posted in topics they've chosen to "subscribe" to.

Background

This idea of enabling people to more easily follow activity in specific talk page sections has been around for some time. [i][ii][iii][iv][v]

This task is about making sure we have an opportunity to learn from the people who have been thinking about this idea over the past couple of years.

@Whatamidoing-WMF: can you think of pages at other projects where it would be good for us to invite people to share feedback about topic subscriptions?

I don't know if this is the appropriate place to ask @ppelberg but we discussed trying to get some feedback in a venue specific to non-English (not bilingual) speakers. Is there any opportunity to do that here?

We talked about doing this in the context of Junior Contributor usability testing. As such, I've made a reference to testing with non-English speakers in T273912's task description.

Requirements have been shared and feedback received. We are now moving on to sharing the prototype (see: T275232).

The things we learned from this round of feedback are now listed in the task description's ===Learning section.
