mw-reverted tags taking a long time to appear on enwiki
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

It has been observed that mw-reverted tags are taking an unusually long time to appear on enwiki. Is there a problem with this process?

https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Reverting#Reverted_edits says, "The mw-reverted change tag is applied shortly after the revert is made if the edit is considered auto-approved". Can you provide any guidance on what values of "shortly" are typical? Is there a performance graph which a user could look at to see if things are normal?

The reason this came up is that these tags are used by vandalism patrollers.

Hi, could you please provide more info? Also see https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/How_to_report_a_bug - thanks a lot!

There's not much more info to provide. A user observed that mw-reverted tags were missing. There's a thread on enwiki's village pump, but there's not really anything there beyond what I mentioned above.

This isn't a bug report, it's just some questions to help a user better understand what they're seeing.

What does "taking a ling time" mean when quantified?

Then this either might be in the wrong place, or should be rephrased as one, I'd say.

I would be happy to ask my questions in a better place. Can you point me to where that place would be?

I could imagine #wikimedia-dev on Freenode IRC as an option, or maybe https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikitech-l . ( https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech might not be frequented enough.) But that's often part of the problem indeed - finding a venue where to receive answers... :-/
