wikimedia/mediawiki docker image out of date
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

The wikimedia/mediawiki docker image (500K+ pulls on Docker Hub) has a description which states "This image tracks latest production." However this is very misleading as the image has not been updated in 4 years.

Running docker image inspect reveals this actually contains version wmf/1.27.0-wmf.9.

This isn't about the Docker-Hub-MediaWiki image, it's about some other image hosted on docker hub. Blindly tagging Release-Engineering-Team in case they have access to https://hub.docker.com/u/wikimedia and can update the image description to say it's not being updated anymore.

Unfortunately, we don't have access to that org in docker hub. My vague memory is that @dbarratt started building that image(?) Maybe someone on AHT still has access (optimistically tagging Anti-Harassment-Team to check)? (related task T330367: Recruit new maintainer for Docker Hub "mediawiki" image)

No, this organization was used by the MediaWiki-Containers project (at the time named "mediawiki-docker", hence the endless confusion) by the old services team. Looking at https://hub.docker.com/r/wikimedia/mediawiki/tags it saw pushes from @GWicke and @mobrovac.

Oh, that one (too many dockers). Checked with @Eevans to see if he still had access: no dice. I'll see if I can hunt anything else up.

Did anyone try and reach out to Docker to reclaim control?
