[SPIKE] What do wikis with many non-existent talk pages have in common
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

This task is about investigating what the wikis with high percentages of non-existent talk pages [and vice versa] might have in common.

Knowing this information could be helpful in understanding broader trends in how and where volunteers communicate on- and off-wiki.

Background

In T272657, we learned on a significant number of Wikipedias, the majority of user and article talk pages have not yet been created. [i] This task is about understanding what commonalities might exist among these projects.

Requirements

We are curious to know whether wikis that have high and low percentages of non-existent/yet-to-be-created user and article talk pages have any of the following attributes in common:

  • Project formation date
  • Project size (e.g. number of articles)
  • Editor base (e.g. total number of monthly active editors, total number of registered editors)
  • Cultural conventions

Note: some of the data above can be found in the Wiki comparison sheet.
