What is the problem?
As part of the work on the Structured Data Across Wikimedia (SDAW) grant, we are working on ways to facilitate illustrating Wikipedia articles with images.
There are two aspects to this project in flight:
- Using the image recommendations API that PET is working on, powered by the image recommendations algorithm and MediaSearch, to enable community bot writers on bot-friendly wikis to add images to articles in bulk.
- We are working with the design research team to talk to experienced users about what kinds of image recommendation user interfaces would benefit them and ease illustration.
How can we help you?
We would like to create a project page that explains this work and keep the community up to date on progress. We would also like help engaging with the community bot writers we've identified and potentially recruiting others.
What does success look like?
We have a project page set up and are in regular communication with the bot writers.
What is your deadline?
As soon as possible, since the project is currently in flight.
