Old revision edit summary doesn't show change tags
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

When viewing an old revision (e.g. https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Wikimedia_Performance_Team&oldid=4425215) the edit summary doesn't include any associated tags with the edit, whereas other views like diff does (e.g. https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Wikimedia_Performance_Team&diff=prev&oldid=4425215).

I think the comment is provided as $7 in the MediaWiki:Revision-info interface file.

Event Timeline

Could you explain which problem this creates, and why is it relevant to you when looking at a revision to know which editor was used to create the latest revision?

@Aklapper Is it possible you misread this? I don't really know what the editor has to do with it (it's already there) or what this has to do with the latest revision specifically?

Regardless, the problem is inconsistency. When I see the full, stylized edit summary (complete with section link, etc) without any tags, I think there are no tags associated with that edit. That's true on diff view, history view, contributions view, even on the watchlist. I've just learned that when I see such a display on the old revision view, I have to open another link to check whether or not any tags were associated with the edit. That's inconvenient to say the least, and it's also unexpected.
