"Execute Query" button on WDQS not visible for long text query
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

As a user of the Wikidata Query Service, I want the "Execute Query" button to be visible when I'm arriving at a long-text query with many lines and not have to scroll down to find it.

Problem:
When arriving from a link to a long-text query,

  1. The "Execute Query" button is not immediately visible because it is aligned with the last line in the query form.
  2. A scrollbar for the query form is not visible (this is the case only for the mobile interface)

Example:

Screenshots/mockups:

  • Desktop view ("Execute Query" button is not visible, scrollbar is visible)
    long-texed query.JPG (2×3 px, 458 KB)
  • Mobile view ("Execute Query" button is not visible, scrollbar is not visible)
    long-texed query - mobile view.jpg (2×1 px, 596 KB)

Acceptance criteria:

  • The "Execute Query" button is always visible for all queries and people don't have to scroll down to find it
  • The query form has visible vertical and horizontal scrollbars in mobile view

@Mohammed_Sadat_WMDE I think that happens on mobile ? The execute query button is at the bottom. I tried the link in the ticket on my laptop now and could see the button. Can you scroll down and then check ?

@amy_rc You're right. For people who're not familiar with the Query Service however, it's not very intuitive that they might have to scroll down in order to see the execute query button. I've updated the ticket to reflect that more clearly.
