Watchlist should filter out logged actions from Wikidata marked as bot when told to exclude bot
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

It seems like logged actions from Wikidata that are marked as bot are treated as non-bot actions when I see my watchlist on English Wikipedia. It appears that the problem happens with logged actions only, not edits.

With [Latest revision][Page creations][Logged actions][Wikidata edits][Human (not bot)] turned on, my watchlist has this line (which is not an expected behavior):

2021-03-05

(diff | hist) . . Dm Early modern human (Q15978631); 17:55:07 . . MsynABot (talk | contribs) (Protected "Q15978631": Highly used item: to be indefinitely semi-protected per Wikidata:Page protection policy#Highly used items; please use Template:Edit request on the item talk page if you cannot edit this item ([Edit=Allow only autoconfirmed users] (indefinite)))

For comparison, with [Latest revision][Page creations][Logged actions][Wikidata edits][Bot] turned on, my watchlist has this line (which *is* an expected behavior):

2021-03-09
(diff | hist) . . Dmb Versailles, Yvelines (Q621); 10:55:35 . . AVMbot (talk | contribs) (‎Changed claim: Property:P1082: 85,862, Add France 2018 population; ‎Changed an entity: Add France 2018 population)

Ideally, both should be shown only when [Bot] is turned on as a watchlist filter.

On my Wikidata watchlist, both are treated as a bot edit/action.

whym renamed this task from Logged actions from Wikidata marked as bot should be filtered out when specified as such to Watchlist should filter out logged actions from Wikidata marked as bot when told to exclude bot.Mar 9 2021, 2:58 PM

There might be a common cause, but I think the old task was about edits. My problem here is about bot actions, not bot edits.

The other ticket is also about actions not edits. I think this is partly a duplicate, but partly different - since the other ticket is about all protections, and this one is about bot protections.

Ah no, sorry, that was about overlap with T276613 - I didn't notice you were talking about T246746.

On wikipedia recent changes with bots filtered out and wikidata filtered in, edits from this bot appear, without the 'b' tag. This also shows as not bot in the wikipedia recentchanges database.
The bot is a member of the "Bots" user group https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:William_Avery_Bot
Changes include "Wikidata item has been linked to this page"

Following back to the wikidata side, it is also incorrectly tagged as not a bot there, with no 'b' tag

However, on wikipedia, some other changes on recent changes do come through correctly tagged as 'Dmb' even with "Wikidata item has been linked to this page":

It's not yet clear what causes edits in to not come through as 'b' in this case
