This request might already exist somewhere, but if it does I can't find it. Based on the discussion here, it seems that, despite [[WP:Editcountitis]], there is not a huge objection to making editors' edit counts more easily accessible. Template:User_contrib has 4000 transclusions, and other similar templates also have high usage, but all must be updated manually at the moment. It would help these templates to have a magic word that takes a user name and returns their edit count, e.g. {{USEREDITCOUNT|Sdkb}} -> 47. Similarly, a magic word that takes a user name and returns the user's edit count rank would find usage.
