Description

  • Requested name of the mailing list (ending in wikisul@lists.wikimedia.org):
  • Reasoning/explanation of purpose: maillist for https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikisul_User_Group
  • Initial list administrator's email address: felipedafonseca@gmail.com
  • Secondary list administrator's email address: rafael.ghidini@gmail.com
  • Please create a private maillist, only for our administrators, I will add them later. Another time I will request an open to the public.

Event Timeline

If it's not urgent, can it wait until we start mailman3? Hopefully in a month (See https://lists-next.wikimedia.org)

Sure, it is not urgent. But what would be mailman3? It is a better mailist?

Yes, for example it has less encoding issues or is easier to use and much more secure. I tried to explain it here: https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-l/2021-March/094382.html

OK let's wait. Thanks. Will be possible to create two maillists for our group? One closed to administrators and one open to the public?

I can't decide on that, That's for the lists admins to decide.

Ok, and I suppose I need to talk to then latter, after de mailman3 is ready, right?

We can create it now. Just double checking https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Mailing_lists/Standardization is not very clear on user groups. I can still go with wikisul though. Just asking someone who knows better.

Ladsgroup, thanks. Is the list open or closed? We wanted to request an open list (public) and a closed list (just for coordinators) if possible.

The task description requests a private mailing list. I created a private mailing list. You can request a public one later.

Thank you, I just wasn't sure if that was possible.

Hi. I think there is an error in the list, or I am not sure exactly how to manage it. I received a pending approval notice by email, but in the email, under "Pending Approval", no request appears. Thanks.

I looked in the server logs and couldn't see anything that would explain this. Could you forward the email notice you got to me? legoktm at wikimedia.org

Have they tried the UI or they sent an email to wikisul-join@ ? We disabled email subscription.

They did it through the website. The current situation is: 1) I received an email advising of a subscription request (sent to you) which did not show up in the "pending approval"; 2) I received another request and my own, which did show up and have been accepted; 3) my emails to the list are not being delivered.

About point "1' I think we are in two admins and the other admin approved (I didn't know we were in two admins), that must have happened because there are three memebers on the mailinglist today. Sorry about that.

I see your emails https://lists.wikimedia.org/hyperkitty/list/wikisul@lists.wikimedia.org/

I think if no one is subscribed yet, it won't show it to them.

The emails are being sent, but I'm not receiving them. They didn't go to spam, I just checked. Under "member options" there is an option "Delivery status" and this option was unchecked for everybody, I can only check it for myself, but even after checking I don't receive the messages.

GMail deduplicates emails you send, so you wouldn't receive it yourself. Did others receive it?

Ok, that must be it. I will check it out, thanks.

Thd other guys have receive, but I dont receive their. The problem is just with me.

Guys, everything is ok now. Thanks for the help.
