Add lexeme language code en-us
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

This ticket is to add language codes for the representations of lexemes and forms in American English.

As there are already separate codes for British and Canadian English (inherited from the quirks which led to their inclusion as termbox languages), and given that there are a number of lexemes for which American English spellings are distinct from what might be considered an international de facto standard, it would make sense to be able to better distinguish these in lemmata and forms rather than consign them to the 'ambiguous' (i.e. not otherwise qualified) realm.

@Amire80 @jhsoby What do you say?

I think that argumentation makes perfect sense, and the benefits of en-us as a lexeme language seem very clear. So that's a "go" from me, but I would like to double-check with @Amire80 just in case.

@jhsoby @Amire80 Is this a go/no-go or do you want to follow the track laid out by @Jdforrester-WMF?

I'm not really opposed to it, and T33874 sounds more complicated. (That said, I would love some way to have more clarity about the kind of English to use by default instead of arguing about messages' spelling, but that's another topic.)
