Solution for right-to-left labels
Open, LowPublic

Description

Background information

Some non Latin labels are supposed to be read from right-to-left. Note that the "name" field in the wikimedia tiles will sometimes have more than one name combined together. For example, Alger also has a name in two different non-Latin scripts, one of which should read right-to-left. Mapbox does not have this resolved out of the box. Instead, Mapbox requires the use of a plugin (at least for desktop implementations) to switch them.

How Alger is labeled in the existing Wikimedia maps beta site:

How Alger is represented in the name field of the database:

@Gpeterson: Hi, which codebase is this task about? Should this be tagged with Maps maybe? Thanks.
