Description

Main components:

Query Builder

Goal:
We want to show a notification banner to make people aware of the Query Builder.

Copy
Main Banner: "Do you need help creating a query? You can build queries without having to write SPARQL in the new Query Builder."

BDD
GIVEN a user opening the Query Service
WHEN the user is viewing the main page
THEN a banner informing about the new Query Builder will be visible on top
AND it can be closed by clicking on the ‘X’ icon

Acceptance criteria:

Links open in new tab
Once dismissed the banner is not shown again to the user
This by default is not shown (only required on wikidata.org)
We are currently running a different banner: T288753: Add banner/link to WDQS User Research Survey 2021 on WDQS UI. This banner is to be disabled through this task.

Notes:

We've done similar things in the past to recruit users for a survey. Might be worth looking at that code again.

Should this appear on all installations of the query service UI, or only on query.wikidata.org? I feel like it should be specific to WDQS, but the current Gerrit change doesn’t make that configurable.

Good point, yes! We probably should restrict it to query.wikidata.org or have a setting to turn it on and then turn it on for query.wikidata.org.

Ok no problem will add that in. Any updates on the live url? 😇

We can probably wait a bit with this one in favor of the query service survey by the WMF. I think the survey is more time-sensitive to show to users.
