Trying to publish an uploaded file on WM Commons returns "Internal error: Server failed to publish temporary file"
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

I was trying publish a large webm video file I uploaded there. If the filesize is a problem it should probably downrender the video or at least display an error message that asks for a smaller sized version or higher upload-speeds.

How can this problem be solved? The message displays after loads for minutes saying "Publishing..." I already tried the "Retry failed uploads" button many times as well as uploading the file anew.

What is the exact file size? Please also see and follow the scheme on https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/How_to_report_a_bug - thanks.

Not sure if the filesize is the reason then (reminded me of T77820 or T37916)

Do I need to rerender to be able to upload it? I'm asking because the rendering (with Kdenlive) takes a lot of time and in that case the error-message should say so.

I rendered a smaller version and the upload went through. I think that it was caused by the filesize. Please fix the error-message and please consider raising the filesize-limit.

When I try to upload the larger version of the video by going to "Upload a new version of this file" I get the error-message "This file is bigger than the server is configured to allow." right after selecting the file with the filepicker of "Source file". Please comment if a larger filesize gets enabled.
