Hello. I would like to request the following from the developers:

Currently, lines 497 to 505 of https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/g/mediawiki/core/+/HEAD/languages/data/Names.php has the following:

		'zh-cn' => "中文（中国大陆）", # Chinese (PRC)
		'zh-hans' => "中文（简体）", # Mandarin Chinese (Simplified Chinese script) (cmn-hans)
		'zh-hant' => "中文（繁體）", # Mandarin Chinese (Traditional Chinese script) (cmn-hant)
		'zh-hk' => "中文（香港）", # Chinese (Hong Kong)
		'zh-min-nan' => 'Bân-lâm-gú', # Min-nan -- (see T10217)
		'zh-mo' => "中文（澳門）", # Chinese (Macau)
		'zh-my' => "中文（马来西亚）", # Chinese (Malaysia)
		'zh-sg' => "中文（新加坡）", # Chinese (Singapore)
		'zh-tw' => "中文（台灣）", # Chinese (Taiwan)

I think that they should be changed as:

		'zh-cn' => "简体中文（中国大陆）", # Chinese (PRC)

For names.php: Why do you think that your translations would be better? Any source?
For CLDR: Changes must be done upstream at http://cldr.unicode.org/ We import from this source.

1.【About the change "中文（简体）" and "中文（繁體）" to "简体中文" and "繁體中文"】In many operating systems or websites, the language name is like my suggested. For example: Android, macOS, iOS, Google, and others. You can see it by visiting the language settings of your operating system or website. To see your Google language setting: https://myaccount.google.com/language
　【About the change "台灣" to "臺灣"】Please see https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/臺灣#「-{臺}-」與「-{台}-」 .
　　It says: 臺灣的漢字正式書寫為「臺灣」，而「臺」為正體字，但與異體字「台」通用，現今民間與媒體多用「台灣」，在中華民國的官方國書、文件中則使用正式的「臺灣」。
　　Translate: Taiwan's Chinese characters are officially written as "臺灣", while "臺" is a formal character, but it is common with variant character "台". Nowadays, the folk and media use "台灣" more often than not, and the official documents of the Republic of China use "臺灣".
　　Because of the above, I suggested.

Sorry, but I don't know much about CLDR. If you know about this, I would like to know.

You have to file a ticket at CLDR directly, see http://cldr.unicode.org/index/bug-reports . After your request was fulfilled the change will be part of the next CLDR release (twice a year) and then imported to MediaWiki CLDR extension.

Please allow me a fix of the status: The first part is about MediaWiki core. The 2nd part, you have removed, needs an upstream patch
