Deploy Extension:PlantUML on Meta
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Hello,

I would like to be able to add some UML to document ideas on Meta. I'm already familiar with PlantUML and there's a Mediawiki extension for it. Thus said my main concern would be to have a solution that enable to generate this kind of diagram and in the same time editable on Meta.

I see that the PlantUML extension states:

This extension is currently not actively maintained! Although it may still work, any bug reports or feature requests will more than likely be ignored.

So I'm not sure it will go to production in such a condition. 😆 But you are sure to have nothing if you don't even ask.

If that is not the appropriate place to submit this kind of request, please provide me with proper information to where I should better go directly next time. 😉

Hello @Psychoslave,

I'm sorry, but this extension cannot be enabled as of now (and for the foreseeable future). As you correctly noted, the extension is currently considered unmaintained – at the very least, the codebase would have to have an active maintainer (who would have to go through a lot of work and a lot of reviews to make it deployable). For more information, see the docs at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Writing_an_extension_for_deployment.

Most extensions tagged by the {{OnWikimedia}} template (see list) can be made available at more wikis (if the community wishes so, ie. not if a single person asks), but not all (m:Limits_to_configuration_changes has some notable exceptions).

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Martin Urbanec

Thanks @Urbanecm for this informative feedback.

It's unfortunate for my use case we can deploy it in some straightforward manner, but I completely understand so there is not much to be sorry about. 😄

Much thanks again for all these links, I strongly appreciate to be given that kind of hints toward potential way to unlock situation. ℹī¸đŸ”“
