migrate clouddb backups (openstack) from the old mysqldump system to the new wmfbackups (mydumper/mariabackup)
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

After a discussion with cloud, and some thoughts being shared at T284157, it is clear to Jaime that cloud team will benefit from moving their production network database backups workflow from the old system (mysqldump with bacula predump script) to the new production system (wmfbackup automation).

This will provide many advantages on backup handling and restoring, plus will unify the backup systems into a single one.

The intention is to setup the new backup system on a read only galera host an perform a test for validation.

We will likely start working on this next quarter (July) and I expect the work needed to be small- but complications may arise if there are compatibilites or special needs not accounted by already migrated Wikis or Analytics backups.

I will mostly need help from cloud when doing a first test to validate the new setup.
