Crimean Turkish to Crimean Tatar
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

Hi, Crimean Tatar's language is mostly used as "Crimean Tatar", less frequently as "Crimean Turkish". Crh-latn and Crh-cyrl uses both "Tatar". Could you please update crh also:

'crimean tatar (cyrillic script)' => 'crh-cyrl',
'crimean tatar (latin script)' => 'crh-latn',
'crimean turkish' => 'crh',

Thanks in advance.

Where does it appear exactly? In the Wikimedia world we have a whole bunch of places where language codes and names appear.

When you use <nowiki>{{#language:crh|en}}</nowiki> in Wikipedias, it gives "Crimean Turkish".

I guess it is in this file: https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki-extensions-UniversalLanguageSelector/blob/master/data/LanguageNameSearchData.php

It's most likely not this. It's probably from CLDR, but I don't know that part very well. Perhaps @Raymond or @Nikerabbit can give a more certain answer.

Sadly, somewhere along the line Wikimedia decided to use CLDR system which it has no real sway over, and now the small languages have to suffer with mistakes like this that go unfixed for years. But this discussion should preferably be in one ticket.

{{#language:crh|en}} is provided by CLDR extension, not by the linked file.
