meetbot has 500G of log files
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Meetbot is currently the largest single user of Toolforge NFS space with these two log files:

taavi@tools-sgebastion-08:/data/project/meetbot $ ls -lah meetbot.out
-rw-rw---- 1 tools.meetbot tools.meetbot 250G Jun 20 13:08 meetbot.out
taavi@tools-sgebastion-08:/data/project/meetbot $ ls -lah logs/messages.log
-rw-r--r-- 1 tools.meetbot tools.meetbot 250G Jun 20 13:08 logs/messages.log

Most of that is complaining about disconnects from Freenode and that it can't write to /data/project/meetbot/wm-labs-meetbot.conf (somehow has mode 0400). I'm not sure if those can safely be deleted over the network or if it should be done on the NFS servers instead. I've stopped the bot to stop the growth of these log files.

Mentioned in SAL (#wikimedia-cloud) [2021-06-21T15:22:41Z] <bd808> Deleted giant log files and renamed broken config that still points to freenode. Leaving bot down as I am unaware of any ongoing use of the bot since TechCom was disbanded. (T285179)
