Open questions

  • 1. Where and how will announcements be made such that a sufficient number of volunteers at all Wikipedias, except English, will be aware of the planned deployment of Manual Topic Subscriptions as a Beta Feature at their wiki?
    • Answer: Tech/News

Done

  • Announcements are posted at each of the Phase 2 wikis (listed in the ===Phase 2 wiki announcements section above) informing them:
    • What benefits Manual Topic Subscriptions will offer them
    • When they can expect to gain access to Manual Topic Subscriptions as a Beta Feature. Deployment date to be finalized in T287801.
    • How they will gain access to Manual Topic Subscriptions as a Beta Feature. People who have the DiscussionTools Beta Feature enabled will gain access to Manual Topic Subscriptions automatically.
  • Links to the pages where announcements are made are posted in the ===Phase 2 wiki announcements section above

Event Timeline

Additional announcements were made at about 20 Wikipedias, in conjunction with T281533: Announce Planned Reply Tool Opt-Out Deployment (Phase 2 wikis), plus at the Russian and German-language Wikipedias. Wikipedias chosen for extra announcements either had more than 5,000 active editors during the last month, or were test wikis for the large A/B test the Editing team did earlier this year.

Noted and sounds good. I'm glad you posted this thinking on the ticket, @Whatamidoing-WMF.
