Watchlist filter to exclude edits that also caused a notification to be sent
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

It is annoying to see edits on the watchlist again that you've already seen because you got a notification about them (because you were mentioned, it's your own talk page, you subscribed to a topic using DiscussionTools, etc.)

What if the watchlist had a filter to exclude edits that also caused a notification to be sent to you?

This is just a wild idea but @ppelberg seemed enthusiastic today when I mentioned it as an "opposite" approach to T287790.

The patch is a proof-of-concept, just to demonstrate I think this would look like. I made it in May during the Product Inspiration Week (and I didn't like it enough to present it, heh). A real version would have to be implemented differently, this patch does some inefficient queries.

Does this really help with the use case of T287790? Mentally ignoring specific pages on your watchlist is easy, a filter that would only hide a small subset of watchlist entries doesn't add much value IMO.

No one seems to like the idea very much.
