Description

User stories

As a Contributor, I want to see a visual indication of read talk page threads in context so that I can focus on comments and discussions that I haven't seen and feel less overwhelmed by the information overload.

(Note: this use case was brought to my attention by @APerson)

Conditions of Satisfaction

This should be on mobile and desktop.
This is specifically referencing the in-context reading experience of Talk pages.

Possible Solutions

  • @APerson and I were discussing this at Wikimania and suggested that we review the treatment of this on https://lobste.rs/

Done

  • a solution to this problem
  • mockups

Event Timeline

@APerson - is it possible for you to post a screenshot of what this treatment looks like on lobsters (as I don't have an account and it's invite only)?

In this screenshot I had clicked on the link when it only had the first comment and read that one. All the new ones after that have a colored, bold "(unread)" next to them.
