Hotcat after a visual editor save gets old page version

Description

List of steps to reproduce (step by step, including full links if applicable):

  • Create a page using Visual Editor
  • Save
  • Add categories and then save

What happens?:
The page save gives a warning that an older version is being edited.

What should have happened instead?:
Category editor should be working with the latest page version. A page refresh fixes everything of course.

Software version (if not a Wikimedia wiki), browser information, screenshots, other information, etc:
Mozilla Firefox. HotCat selected in preferences.

hi @Shyamal – we appreciate you reporting this. We suspect the issue you are experiencing originates from within Hotcat rather than the VisualEditor. As such, can you please report this issue on the Hotcat talk page at Commons [i]

Considering the above, we're going to remove the VisualEditor tag for the time being. Although, please comment on this ticket again if you posting on the Hotcat talk page does not lead to this issue being resolved.

Are HotCat issues actually tracked in Phabricator? Most gadgets aren't, and given this report is two years old I'm assuming the developers haven't seen it.

I've gone ahead and fixed HotCat.

For general documentation, I tracked down that the issue was introduced on 2021-06-10.
