Setup duplicate content copy of Governance Wiki
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Per discussions with people in Technology, I am requesting that we setup a new wiki at a temporary address, and begin cloning Governance Wiki into this new wiki. The belief being that this method will be more effective than rebuilding Governance Wiki within its current installation.

Specifically the outcomes should be:

  • New wiki installed at temporary location
  • Content (including user pages) copied from existing Governance Wiki database
  • SUL setup for account management
  • Translate plugin setup
  • Namespaces setup as indicated in other tickets

How can we get this going? :)

Which problem would this solve?

Which problem would this solve?

It is an idea proposed as an alternative solution to setting up SUL on Governance Wiki as it exists today. @Urbanecm has kindly offered to look into the two options and we are discussing which is the path of least resistance to getting the overall setup for Governance Wiki that we are seeking.

From my technical point of view, duplicating a wiki is much more complex than connecting an existing wiki to SUL.

If this is an alternative solution to T205347, should this be a subtask of T205345?

Sure - that makes sense to me.

I mostly agree with this. I re-read through T205347: Enable SUL accounts on Governance wiki and don't recall why or where that got stalled, was it just resourcing? Governance wiki has 1,083 users, which honestly is close to the point where we could just do SULF by a spreadsheet.

Duplicating a wiki is a rather novel process, would break revision ids, etc. I'll comment on the other ticket again.

It looks that we agree. Declining this ticket to reflect reality. Let's continue on the other ticket!
