A lot of people know how to make spreadsheets. Could we create implementations based on a spreadsheet?

Event Timeline

From my point of view is Ethercalc a good example of an free Webspreadsheet with the from my point of view very interesting feature to create forms and put the different elements used in them like check boxes into a cell through a function. It is possible to translate it into other languages and so that could be a possible tool for the contributions. I think the most people are interested in using content at their own computer without using external web services. A challenge when copying Spreadsheetfunctions out of a websource is the translation. There are different formats depending on the language and local specifications. In Germany the separator of Arguments of a functions in a Spreadsheet is usually a ; and in other Languages it is a ,. So there needs to be the possibility of converting it. For a good reuse it is helpful to have two different kind of formulas for an implementation. One that has fix cell addresses in it and another one that is created in way to be editable after inserting into a speadsheet. I will try to write a text with thoughts about it in Metawiki to discuss it further when I am ready. At the moment I am working on the automatical conversion of spreadsheetfunctions into functions in R. I hope that I have in a few weeks an first good working prototype installed in the PAWS installation of Wikimedia in my own profile. So that people can copy the files and tried it in their own PAWS Profile or on their own computer.
