Scale: increase share of users on English Wikipedia

Description

Following the sign-off from Village Pump (proposals) on English Wikipedia, we are ready to increase the share of newcomers getting Growth features. From the conclusion:

WP:SNOW close in favour of:

  • increasing the proportion of new accounts receiving Growth features from 2% to 25%
  • increase the share of newcomers getting mentorship from 2% to 5%

After the 1 month an update on the results of the trial will be posted and available for discussion in a similar manner to the 2% trial, and any proposal for changes or expansion brought here, as was done with this proposal. Seddon talk 16:00, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

Just as the quote above says, we want to increase the share of new accounts getting Growth features from 2% to 25%. But we only want to increase the share getting mentorship from 2% to 5%. In other words, 20% of the people getting Growth features should have mentorship.

We'll aim to start this change on Monday, September 20.

@Urbanecm I suppose that the mentorship sign-up rate doesn't apply to users who enable Homepage manually - I enabled Homepage for four of my old test users and on two new accounts, and all of them got a mentor.

Yes, that is correct. It is only applied for new user acconts. I think that is okay, as it is unlikely to be an issue scaling-wise.

Boldly closing, as I do not think there's anything else to do here.
