Data pull: Wishlist Benchmarks on Participation
Closed, ResolvedPublic3 Estimated Story Points

Description

When I am planning for the wishlist improvements, I want to understand the pre-existing metrics on past wishlists, so I can understand and plan strategically for participation improvements.

  • Who are the contributors coming to wishlist?

Homewiki: What is the project they have contributed most heavily to? (in terms of edits)

Number of wikis they contribute to: Excluding meta and or wikis where they have less than five edits or imported edits

Edit counts: how many edits do participants have?
Edit age: how long have the accounts been active? (Central auth works)

Event Timeline

(private because I don't know how to make it public but restrict editing only to WMF): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wVikRH_031vXCz6KUFuYz3ZJYKtbB2jZHvexSXPU46k

Turns out the CentralAuth database doesn't have edit counts for each individual wiki, like I thought it did. We need a script to loop through and get this, which would normally be fairly easy, except the Wiki Replicas 2020 Redesign makes this very difficult to do in a local environment.

So, we have only some of the data here that was requested. It was pulled from the 2021 survey. See comments on the column headings for more info. Note also I didn't include IPs (which we can't feasibly get this data on anyway), which is why there are fewer users listed in this sheet than the official count of 1,773 contributors. Another engineer might be able to go off of this list to get the rest of the info. I'm happy to do it when back in office on Monday.
