Request increased quota for wikipathways Cloud VPS project (floating ip)
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Project Name: wikipathways
Type of quota increase requested: floating ip
Amount of quota increase: 1
Reason: Our project is for curation and sharing of biological pathway data, and we are in the process of upgrading and migrating to Cloud VPS. If we were starting out new, we could simply use wikipathways.wmcloud.org, but since researchers have already published scientific papers that cite our existing wikipathways.org URLs, we'd like to avoid breaking those URLs, e.g., see Table 1 in this paper: Transcriptome Signature of Immune Cells Post Reovirus Treatment in KRAS Mutated Colorectal Cancer.

Instead of a floating IP, we could alternatively use a web proxy if it could support the domain wikipathways.org, as per Item 7 in the docs:

If you want a domain that is not already present in the menu, a cloud admin (most likely a staff member) will need to create it for you.

But that option didn't seem to be allowed in this issue.

Event Timeline

This sounds reasonable to me. I will talk to the WMCS team and get back to you with our final decision.

Thanks!

FYI: I have another quota request open (for disk), but maybe these tickets could be merged?
