Description

We at Wiki Project Med have built a translation dashboard through which nearly 300 articles have so far been translated https://mdwiki.toolforge.org/Translation_Dashboard/index.php

We would like to be able to link to the translation screen for Content Translation with one click. Ie step 3 as explained here https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Topic:W8azi7zuehw00tpn

Now we realize that step 2 contains the agreement that contributions are under a CC BY SA 3.0. But wondering if that could be moved to the right side bar of step 3? Expecially since the starting text is CC BY SA 3.0, the end text already must be CC BY SA 3.0. So in my opinion all we really need is just a notice that all contributions are under a CC BY SA 3.0 license.

Now we realize that step 2 contains the agreement that contributions are under a CC BY SA 3.0. But wondering if that could be moved to the right side bar of step 3? Especially since the starting text is CC BY SA 3.0, the end text already must be CC BY SA 3.0. So in my opinion all we really need is just a notice that all contributions are under a CC BY SA 3.0 license.

The note in step 2 informs about the terms of service and the license that applies to the user contributions (note that in addition to the translation of the source text users can provide additional contributions to a paragraph). We need to investigate how explicit the acknowledgement from the user has to be. I'm not sure we can find an option that adds no friction in the process to replace the current default behaviour, but we can consider an alternative workflow for specific cases such as this one.

As part of the work on Section Translation, the confirmation step is being reworked (T241590) to make it more useful as a way to check what's missing to expand articles with another section, keep the translation for later, surface the potential impact, adjust the languages and more. This can be tested (for now adapted only to mobile) when linking to an article, a section or from the dashboard. My understanding is that in your case a more direct access is preferred, is this because this context is already provided by your own dashboard or it is not relevant for this particular usecase?

We are recruiting new translators... The less steps in the process the less likely they are to become lost or give up. As the starting content is CC BY SA the end content must be under the same license, so restarting this is not really required in my opinion.
