Add huwiki support to WikiWho
Closed, ResolvedPublic3 Estimated Story PointsFeature

Description

It would be very useful to have the WikiWho tool (and therefore the WWT and the XTools/Authorship) available for the Hungarian Wikipedia as well.

There is a report on GitHub for the same issue: https://github.com/wikiwho/WikiWho/issues/9
The WWT surface is already completely translated to Hungarian.

Roadmap

  • Download XML dump
  • Merge code to add hu language to WikiWho (commit)
  • Process the dump
  • Merge code to add huwiki to EventStreams listener and restart services (commit)
  • Update Who-Wrote-That and XTools clients

No new languages can be added until WikiWho is overhauled and migrated to WMF production. I suspect that won't happen until mid-2022 at the earliest. You can follow T288840 for updates (note however we're moving to Cloud VPS first, which is not the same thing as production). Apologies for the long wait. In the end, the hope is to provide WikiWho support for all languages.

Considering T288840 was closed almost half a year ago, I don’t see any reason anymore for this task to be stalled.

MusikAnimal set the point value for this task to 3.

The initial XML import is now in progress. This should be done sometime today, but I probably won't revisit this until Monday, so I'm aiming for huwiki to be complete and available on all clients sometime early next week.

Migration is complete, and huwiki is now supported in WikiWho. I will wait to close the task until our clients (Who-Wrote-That and XTools) have also been updated.
