Requesting access to Superset for Spatel
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

We've built visualization and dashboards for the Structured Data team that require access to Superset. This appears to involve setting up a Wikitech account, getting added to the wmf LDAP group, and the analytics-privatedata-users POSIX group (ref: https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Analytics/Data_access#Dashboards_in_Superset_/_Hive_interfaces_(like_Hue)_that_do_access_private_data). SSH access will not be needed for this.

Requestor provided information and prerequisites

This section is to be completed by the individual requesting access.

SRE Clinic Duty Confirmation Checklist for Access Requests

Event Timeline

cchen renamed this task from Requesting access to Superset for gehel to Requesting access to Superset for Spatel.
cchen moved this task from Triage to Tracking on the Product-Analytics board.

I think this needs manager approval from @mwilliams and group-membership approval from @Ottomata or @odimitrijevic

Dzahn changed the task status from Open to In Progress.Dec 21 2021, 12:30 AM
Dzahn claimed this task.

Change 748854 had a related patch set uploaded (by Dzahn; author: Dzahn):

stat1004 is a role(statistics::explorer)

[stat1004:~] $ id spatel
uid=36549(spatel) gid=500(wikidev) groups=500(wikidev),107(render),731(analytics-privatedata-users)

Mentioned in SAL (#wikimedia-operations) [2021-12-21T17:44:33Z] <mutante> LDAP - added uid=spatel to wmf group (T297927)

@cchen @Ottomata

done! the 2 requirements from https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Analytics/Data_access#Dashboards_in_Superset_/_Hive_interfaces_(like_Hue)_that_do_access_private_data are both met now:

member of analytics_privatedata_user (but without shell)
member of wmf LDAP

Also Sneha should be able to login here on Phabricator with that same user and can feel free to reopen this ticket if any issues with the access.

happy holidays

Thanks @Dzahn and approvers. I am able to use my wikitech a/c with no issues now. :)
