deploy quicksurvey for editors on bnwiki (for Growth IP editors research)
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

TLDR: host Quicksurvey on Bengali Wikipedia that links to a Google Forms survey in support of Growth team IP editing research

Background:

Hello all, following up on the semi-successful deployment of a survey to arwiki and eswiki (https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T294568 ; netted ~40 Spanish and a few Arabic responses), I'd like to request a deployment to Bengali with widened parameters. I suspect that the 10+ edits / .01% of editors parameters were too narrow for Arabic, and that smaller Wikis may need a wider net.

As always, I greatly appreciate the engineering help necessary to host these surveys, and I will be very happy to provide additional information, clarification, or other help where needed.

Acceptance criteria

Sampling rate: 1%
Length: 4 weeks
Wikis: bnwiki (Bengali Wikipedia)
Audience: minEdits: 1; anons: false (hoping to hit logged-in editors who have made a minimum of 1 edits)
Layout: External
Platform: desktop users
Privacy statements: Bengali privacy statement
External survey links (Google Forms): Bengali survey

The language for the quicksurveys

I learned from the last deployment that the text of the quicksurvey UI is generally taken from translatewiki. However, if we need Bengali text specific to this task, I can provide the following:

Help us learn more about anonymous editing on Bengali Wikipedia বাংলা উইকিপিডিয়ায় বেনামী সম্পাদনা সম্পর্কে আরও জানতে আমাদের সাহায্য করুন

The privacy statement for this study can be found here এই গবেষণার জন্য এই গোপনীয়তা বিবৃতি এখানে পাওয়া যাবে

I will be happy to provide any other UI translations if/when needed.

  • Deploy first with a sample size of 0
  • Test using a query string parameter
  • Deploy to sampling rate defined above

Closing this task since we've had luck pursuing distribution avenues by working directly with some community members, and this task is now superfluous. Thanks for everyone's support.
