Event Timeline
@FonAfon, have you checked the translations? It looks like an ALT text of the closing icon. It can happen to show up if the text is too long - I've seen it on the mobile site a while back and it was solved by shortening the ALT text.
Hi @FonAfon, thanks for taking the time to report this! Please provide steps to reproduce how and where to see that dialog somewhere. For future reference, please use the bug report form (linked from the top of the task creation page) to create a bug report. Thanks.
I used Brave Browser. I also meet this problem on en.wikipedia.org, but there I see a "C" instead of a "R".
I've been unable to replicate this so far in either Brave, Chrome, Firefox (OSX) so need a few more details:
- Are you on Windows, OSX or Linux?
- What version of Brave are you using?
- What language are you using to browse Wikipedia? (I assume Romanian but I want to make sure)
- Does the error appear when you use safe mode? e.g. https://ro.wikipedia.org/?safemode=1
@Jdlrobson I was able to reproduce in Chrome 96 on windows, signed out for en.wp. It seems that this codes's way of building the close window HTML is different from other such examples in the code, such as the VE (add citation popup) and ULS settings. You can open any of those, replicate the classes you use and you'll still see the problem.
I use Windows 10, Brave Version 1.33.106. Romanian Interface on ro.wikipedia.org (as not logged in) and English on en.wikipedia.org (as not logged in). In safe mode, I also have the problem when I am not logged in.

Questions I'd like to answer (possibly via CHEAP A/B tests):
- If something renders in search empty state, will users interact with it?
- Are they more likely to interact if there is a photo / link / button?
- What kind of recommendations are useful in this context?
Technical Questions:
- Is it even possible for us to do this quickly in a production setting? If so, what would that look like?
- How do we do this without involving other teams e.g. needing to update Codex? needing things from event platform team?
- What kind of level of data is useful for making decisions?
