Rack msw2-eqiad in new cage
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

msw2-eqiad is ready and powered off after being prepared in T296271.

This task is to rack it in its final location (at DCops' discretion).
It will then need:

  • to keep its em0->ge-0/0/0 loop cable
  • to have its et-0/1/0 port connected to msw1-eqiad:et-0/1/0 using one of the X-cage fibers

Once completed and powered up, it should be reachable over the network

Event Timeline

Relocated msw2-eqiad and completed cross connect in new and old cage Please confirm link before I close ticket @ayounsi.

All Pdu's and Switches are connected to msw2-eqiad but netbox is not updated with ports, cableid. will work on tomorrow.

@Jclark-ctr looking at the image you shared at https://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/5YslcsIX/1641945459.JPG i see you are using orange cables to msw2 and not to the console server. We use orange cables for console and green cables for mgmt. Any reason why we are using orange cables in this case?`

Thanks

Thanks John!

I see three issues:

  • msw1-eqiad:et-0/1/0 is still showing up as down, so something is wrong on the path to msw2-eqiad:et-0/1/0, could you check light, etc?
  • From the picture, ge-0/0/0 doesn't seem connected to em0 (the switch mgmt port)
  • Last, the switch needs to be cabled like msw1-eqiad, as in an aggregation point for the others msw (netgear) switches, PSUs, servers, and switches connected to their rack's msw

Let me know here or on IRC if something is not clear

@ papaul i had not finished green cables and are mostly going same direction and was hoping i could use that temp so possibly would not block others from starting

@ayounsi corrected et-0/1/0 Rolled fiber. has link.

i still have a few ends i need to do on cables to finish up msw in racks. i had only put those connections as temp. but should have finished and handed over by tomorrow

Nice! and LLDP shows msw2 as neighbor.

However I'm still unable to SSH to msw2, is the mgmt cable connected? ("From the picture, ge-0/0/0 doesn't seem connected to em0 (the switch mgmt port)")

If it's connected and still not working, we will need to do a live troubleshooting session.

Ok, noted.

moved msw2 back to old cage it is connected to port 41. msw2 is back online looks like we might have a missing link with opengear future-scs-f8-eqiad will need some assistance with this @ayounsi have some questions when you are available next week
