Original message below

Hi there,
I am trying to replace a very big image (work of mine, minor edition, see https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Gaialaxy.png), but the only way to upload 2.5GB is by direct url upload. My server has this domain name (UCLouvain University)

curl.irmp.ucl.ac.be

And the image is located there:
https://curl.irmp.ucl.ac.be/~chris/upload/gaia/gaialaxy_g22_gf118_cs5_max9997_32k.tiff

Would it be possible to add it to the list of authorized domains?

Thanks you,
Best,
Chris Ringeval

Hi @Eatdirt, I could process this, but the URL you provided seems no longer available... Could you upload that image again (you mentioned this is your server) or update the URL in the description field of this task?

Stang changed the task status from Open to Stalled.May 3 2022, 10:52 PM

Yes, sorry, it has been a while, I've tidied up a few things since. I've updated the link.
Could you simply allow the domain as a whole?

https://curl.irmp.ucl.ac.be/

The server is mine (work place) and the domain belongs to UCLouvain (Belgian University), so it will remain.

If there is only one file, I could upload for you :)
What's your desired file name? Please also provide a filled "information" template and license.

All right. For the file name, this would be fine (it is ugly but carries some information, as gamma is 2.2, gamma factor is 1.18, color saturation pushed to 5 and maximal level truncated at 0.9997, with a vertical resolution of 32k pixels).

gaialaxy_g22_gf118_cs5_max9997_32k.tiff

Information and license are already set on the page: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Gaialaxy.png (CC BY-SA 4.0), so don't bother with the info, I'll edit it once the figure is pushed (the gamma mentioned has been changed)

Tried Chunk upload and UploadWizard but both method failed...
I convert this task to a server-side upload request, please wait for a sysadmin to process.

Downloading to the production cluster...

But file's live (and can be downloaded), so resolving. The thumbnailing infrastructure probably has issues with processing images of this size.

Thank you for the upload. That's weird, my previous version, uploaded by means of the wizard, with a png of the same size, succeeded to create thumbnails. That took a while though!

PS: I am not sure I did any good by opening this bug report :-/
The original problem was to do a replacement, but the new file you uploaded guys is actually not a replacement. And, as the matter of fact, the upload wizard works to create new files of this size, it just fails to replace. Anyway, don't do more, I'll deal with the duplicate myself, but if someone could have a look to the thumbnails that would be nice.
