Transfer knowledge to Android and iOS Teams
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

In the coming fiscal year (2022 - 2023), it is likely that the Android and iOS Teams will focus on further improvements to how volunteers communicate with one another.

This task involves the work with articulating/documenting what the Editing Team has learned through Phase 1 of the Talk Pages Project that the apps teams can consider/build upon/etc. as they plan the work they are likely to be doing.

Open Questions

Design

Engineering

  • What – if any – infrastructure has the Editing Team built that the apps teams could leverage to "unlock" the opportunities mentioned in the "Product" section below?
  • What infrastructure has the Editing Team needed to "unlock" functionality they had planned, but decided not to build because doing so would require more time/effort than the Editing Team could "afford" to spend?
  • A screenshot of a "standard" desktop and mobile talk page, annotated with all of the elements/components the DiscussionTools APIs make available so that non-engineers understand how the API relates to what people see and can interact with on live talk pages
    • Idea: use existing ?dtenable=1 view.

Product

  • What communication-related opportunities might the Editing Team consider pursuing if they were to continue working on communication improvements in the coming fiscal year?
