App blocks view of system clock etc
Closed, DeclinedPublic1 Estimated Story Points

Description

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start the app
  2. Go to any article{F35012951}

Expected results

System clock, battery and other indicators at the top of the screen should be visible when the Wikipedia app is open.

Attached image shows underlined area that normally displays clock, battery etc.

Actual results

System clock, battery and other indicators at the top of the screen are invisible when the Wikipedia app is open. When the battery indicator is red (indicating low), the red color can be seen through the white of the Wikipedia app.

This wasn't always the case. It's been this way for at least a couple of weeks (low guesstimate).

This does not seem to be reproducible on our devices, including my own Pixel 2 with Android 11. We'll keep this task open in case it becomes reproducible, but it may just be something specific to your particular device.

Thanks. To add, my system setting is dark mode, while I had Wikipedia in light mode. Switching to dark mode in the app, the reported issue disappears. (I switched from dark to light because it appears that the "math block" tag renders black text, which is difficult to read on dark background, but that's an entirely different matter.)

Cannot reproduce with system in dark mode and app in light mode on Fairphone 4, Android 11, app version 2.7.50419-beta-2022-08-29
