[Wireframe review request] Event Center homepage

Description

Please share your comments, questions, concerns, suggestions about the Event Center homepage wireframe, either as a comment on this task or directly in Figma:

We are particularly interested in learning your questions/feedback about:

  • content of each page (what’s existent, what’s missing, what you don’t understand)
  • questions about behaviors of the different features
  • technical feedback
  • sub-pages you would be interested in us making wireframes on

We are not interested at this point in comments about the look and feel (unless these comments are from a technical/dev standpoint, especially if engineers feel a given feature is not possible).

Event Timeline

  • Content: the page is missing a title (<h1> element)
  • General: I'm writing this here but it's valid for all pages. I fear that having the navigation menu on the left may end up taking too much space. When the new vector hamburger menu is expanded the page content shrink quite a bit. If we add the navigation menu, the width for the actual page content will be approximately half of the viewport width.
  • Clarification: is the blue box at the top just for your next upcoming event? What if there are multiple events? Do we only show one?
  • Clarification: I assume that the "Create new event" button is to be used together with the event creation wizard/form. This is not something we're doing yet, so there would be no such button at first.
  • Clarification: I'm unsure about the "topics on which you can contribute" section, and can't quite understand where the links would point to.
  • Unsure how the calendar view will scale when there are more events to show
  • What are the different types of events shown in the calendar? I see they are colour coded and have different icons.
  • How do we keep the events shown here relevant to the user?
  • I would love some clarifications on the "topics you can contribute" section -- what content goes here?
